Sektor VL-Link EFTPOS Terminal Setup and operations for Synergy POS/PumpLink.
WARNING:
It is strongly recommended you only attempt to undertake this operation with the assistance of an onsite Eftpos Technician, to help setup and troubleshoot connections and settings of the Eftpos terminal.
Important Notes
Your Eftpos terminal must be a Verifone Eftpos terminal with its own docket printer and the VL-Link software installed on to it. Confirm this with your Eftpos device provider
The settings in Synergy POS use a COM port - your eft-pos provider will need to either: - Easiest - Have a USB to serial adaptor to plug into the PC OR. - Harder - Install a virtual COM port to forward messages onto the terminal via IP.
Synergy will try integrate with any payment type that has been setup with a class of ‘Eftpos’ or ‘Credit’ if you don’t want a certain payment type to integrate, then go into Synergy back office > Company/Setup > Accounts Receivable > Payment Types and change the class (other sites often use the class ‘Voucher’ ensuring the ‘allow change’ box is unticked)
Setting Up the Integration in POS/PumpLink:
In POS, click the Setup button:
In the POS Setup Menu, tick the box “Do you have Eftpos Integration” then click the Eftpos Integration icon on the right:
In the Set Up EFT-POS screen, select “Sektor Payments Ltd, define the Com details as required, and your Merchant Number (it is our understanding from talking to Eftpos services providers that this is almost always ‘1’), then click Save.
Click ‘Save’ on the POS setup menu, then close and restart POSLink/PumpLink software completely.
You are now ready to transact with Eftpos integration.
Operation:
From the Tenders screen for Sales, No Sale Cash Out, Payment On Account and Returns and Credits, selecting “EFTPOS” or any “Credit” Class Payment type will bring up the Sektor processing screen:
If the process is called from a Return or Credit, the word (Debit) will change to (Credit). After a few seconds the message area will change to:
Once the transaction is approved, the message will be:
This message will remain on screen for 5 seconds, unless a keystroke is made (any key will do) before that time. Once this is complete, the normal POS processing will continue.
If there is a signature required, an additional screen will appear.
The EFTPOS terminal will print two copies of the receipt, and the user should obtain and verify the customer’s signature. If this is correct, press OK, and the “Transaction Approved” message will appear. If the signature cannot be verified, you must click “Cancel” and you will get the following message:
POS will return to the tenders screen after 5 seconds or a keystroke from the user. You will need to manually cancel the transaction on the Eftpos Terminal.
Other messages:
- Transaction Declined: Transaction Declined. Returning to Tenders Screen.
- Transaction Cancelled on Eftpos Terminal: Transaction Cancelled. Returning to Tenders Screen.
- Eftpos Terminal cannot transmit data: EFTPOS Host is Unavailable - see your system supervisor. Returning to Tenders Screen.
- The Eftpos terminal is off line or not responding: No Response from EFTPOS Terminal. Returning to the Tenders Screen.
- The Eftpos Terminal is reporting a System Error: EFTPOS System Error - See your system supervisor. Returning to Tenders Screen.
In all the above instances, this message will display for 5 seconds or until the user pushes a key.
When the program returns to the Tenders screen, the user can either retry sending the data to the Eftpos Terminal, or press escape again to return to the Sale window, then either cancel the sale or finalise it again, choosing a different Payment Type.
