Introduction

Many anti-virus systems include real-time scanning features or may otherwise scan your Synergy program and data files while the system is in operation. This is known to cause file corruption, crashes and slowness when running Synergy.

So we strongly recommend all customers using Synergy to have their IT person set up exclusions/exceptions in their anti-virus software on all computers with access to Synergy, or computers storing Synergy program files and/or data.

Per our terms and conditions, Synergy/SAM Computers take no responsibility for any infection of including but not limited to virus/malware/trojans that affect your computer(s). Please practise safe internet browsing and do not download or run any unknown software or click untrusted links in emails etc.

Exclusions to Add:

This should be done be an appropriately experienced IT service professional. Synergy should be considered trusted software, however changes to your AV software should be made with caution and understanding of the risks involved.

The following exclusions/exceptions should be configured:

  • Synergy program folder(s) (usually "C:\Autoshop\" or "C:\Synergy\" )
  • Synergy data folder, including network drives mapped to the Synergydata folder on ALL PC's (usually "C:\Synergydata" on the main/server PC or a 'mapped network drive' on any workstation PC's)

Additionally, if you are using Synergy POSLink or PumpLink, please add the POS program folder to the exceptions (usually "C:\POS")

Along with the POS program folder, you should also add "C:\Enabler" and "C:\EnablerDB" (if it exists) to the exceptions/exclusions
