Just like any other product, fuel can be selected as a product in the product list and added to a transaction manually (compared to the usual process of selecting the transaction from the PumpLink pump icons).
However, this can be difficult as often a customer will get a specific dollar value of fuel (e.g. $25 of 91) so it can be a little tricky for the customer to backwards calculate the exact qty they need to enter.
To assist with this, POS has a feature called the Fuel Calculator which will automatically prompt you to simply enter the dollar value of the fuel being purchased and it will automatically calculate the correct quantity.
Setting Up the Fuel Calculator
For this feature to work, you need to ensure the price of the fuel in your Synergy product set up is accurate (some people only change the price in the pump controller, but for this to work, it also needs to be updated in your Synergy product list).
To enable the fuel calculator, you will need to go to Setup from the POS Main Menu, and on the Configure Lane screen, tick the Enable Fuel Calculator box:
Make sure your fuel products are correctly set up in Synergy back office (Auto Shop or Financials) by editing the product > going to the Other tab, and ensure the Fuel Product box is ticked:
Using the Fuel Calculator
In a POS transaction, simply type in the product code for the appropriate fuel type, or select it from the product list, and if the Fuel Calculator has been enabled, you will be automatically prompted to input the dollar value of the fuel being purchased:
Press Enter or click the green tick icon, and the fuel will be added to the sale with the appropriate Qty (this is calculated based on the total sale value & the price per litre).
