This article explains how to install Synergy on an additional workstation computer

Overview

This document covers the steps to install Synergy Autoshop or Financials (back office) on additional workstation computers, that will share access to the Synergy database located on the main (server) computer.

Some steps defined within this guide require a level technical computing capability that may be best undertaken by an IT professional, for example to setup and configure a wired network suitable for file sharing among networked computers. As such, we recommend you engage your local IT technician for assistance with this installation.

Minimum System Requirements

Installation

Download & Install the Application

Click the link below to download the installer for the workstation installation application:

synergy.net.nz/downloads/files/synergyv10_workstation.exe

Once the download is complete, run the installer and follow the onscreen prompts to complete the installation.

Run the Application

  • When the installer is complete, you should have a desktop icon for Synergy

  • Double click the Synergy icon on your desktop to launch the application.

  • Synergy will now start and present you with the following screen. If you already have a ‘network drive’ mapped to the server – enter the path to your Synergy data in the space provided. If you have no network drive Click on ‘Map Network Path’.


Below is one method of mapping a network Drive.

  • Select the Drive to Map the data onto. We suggest “S” but this may already be in use.

  • In the Folder Box enter the network path for the Synergy Data or use the Browse to locate it. (eg: \\server\synergydata\ ).

  • Note: Ensure that the Reconnect at logon is ticked to avoid having to enter the data path each time you log on.

  • Once completed click Finish.

  • The Synergy data folder on the server needs to be shared in order for this to work. In the document we have provided some website information on Sharing of Folders and Mapping Network Drives.

  • Once you have completed mapping the network drive – enter the path to the Synergy data in the space provided and click Save.

  • Synergy is now ready to use.

Errors you may encounter during the Installation

Should you get the message below, then please check the following:

  1. Check the data is on the mapped drive

  2. Check that the data is on a network

  3. Check the folder is shared

  4. Check the mapped drive has been incorrectly created
