Step by step guide to installing Synergy software updates.


Installation Timing Best Practice

Synergy updates may include database changes, so it is vital that you only install the update when all other copies of all Synergy programs on your network are closed, and they should not be reopened until you have completed the installation of the update. In the interests of best practice and minimal disruption, we strongly recommend updates are not installed on Fridays, weekends and public holidays or after 3 pm on any weekday.

 



Important Notes:

  • We strongly recommend you complete a 'full backup' of your system before initiating the update.
  • It is best to perform the update installation on the main (server) computer, which will ensure the most efficient and reliable access to the program and data during the installation.
  • If you have trouble installing from your main server computer,  for example, some lighter versions of Windows for POS (IOT or POSReady versions) may lack system components or access permissions required to install an update, then install the update from a workstation or back-office computer.



Installation Procedure:


  • Close ALL Synergy programs (booking diary, AutoShop/Financials, Seed Dressing, POS/PumpLink etc) on ALL computers on your network.
  • Open Synergy on the computer you intend to install the upgrade from.
  • Click Help then Check for Updates & follow the on-screen prompts to download the update.


If you see an error stating "Unable to contact the Synergy Updates WebServer at this time" please refer to our Check for Updates Troubleshooting Guide

  • Once the update has been downloaded, close and re-open Synergy and the update routine will finalise the installation of program files and database changes.
  • Once the Synergy program has fully opened and is displaying the usual Synergy screen with all icons etc then the update has completed and you may now open all other Synergy programs one by one.
  • You can confirm the update has been installed by going to Help > About Synergy 11

  • This will load the following window where you can confirm the current Build Number:
